A little about my background

Like most people, I have had my fair share of life’s ups and downs. It took me a long while until I realised what I wanted to be when I grew up!

I eventually became a mature student and began my journey of becoming a Therapist/Counsellor. This was no easy feat, as I had left full time education 40 years before. I graduated from Sutton College in 2018 with my level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I’m and Integrative Therapist, which simply means that I can tailor therapy to your needs using different modalities. Don’t worry about the jargon, it just means that I use what is best for you.

I find people and their life stories fascinating and I can resonate with many human situations because I have experienced them myself, so can empathise on a more personal level. This is my USP if you like; life experience.

I am a mother, a grandmother, a partner, a sister, a friend and a Therapist. I know that life can be extremely difficult at times and we need support that sometimes our friends and families can’t supply

What to expect

Whether you are a face to face or online client, the sessions will normally be 1 hour at a set day and time each week, fortnight, or month depending on your requirements. We would start weekly and then reduce the amount of sessions depending on your circumstances.

I will take a history of your life and we will discuss what areas you want to work on. You will always have autonomy but I will guide you as well. Therapy isn’t about giving advice but rather, to work together as an alliance to gain the best results. You know yourself better than anyone else.

When therapy is coming to an end and you feel that you have reached your goals, we will work towards and ending by looking back over what you have achieved and the new skills that you have.

During training I volunteered at Sandhurst Counselling Service for three years where I worked with clients with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self esteem and relationship issues.

During this time, Covid 19 threw a spanner in the works and automatically all therapy went online in March 2020 until it was safe to resume face to face therapy again.

In November 2019 I joined RASASC (Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre) in Guildford, Surrey as a volunteer and worked with clients who have experienced sexual trauma. The work was challenging but rewarding and gave me the foundation for working with trauma in its many forms.

I started my private practice in March 2021 after stepping out of my comfort zone. I saw clients alongside my other job of being a support worker, supporting adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues.

In April 2023 I cut the apron strings and became a therapist full time and have not looked back.
