Kay Pickard Therapy
I see therapy as a journey. Of self discovery, improvement and healing. Like most journeys, sometimes you need a guide. That’s what Therapy provides.
What has brought you to Therapy today?
I know that life can be extremely difficult at times and we need support that sometimes our friends and families can’t supply. I have been told many times by clients that they don’t want to “burden” their loved ones and prefer to talk to somebody who is not in their lives.
This is one of the many benefits of therapy, as well as having the space to explore things that have happened in the past that seem to keep causing us problems. The mind and body store these experiences which have been suppressed, either consciously or not. We can’t heal from these experiences until we explore how they are affecting us now. It can be painful at first but worth it in the end.
Understanding our feelings and behaviours is the first step to healing because then there is the potential for change. We can’t change other peoples’ behaviours but we can change our own if we want to. If we can improve our relationship with ourselves, then it can improve our relationships with others which is one of the main reasons why people seek therapy. We all want to be connected to others; its a basic human need. However, we can often be attracted to the wrong sort of people, not knowing why and repeat behaviours in different relationships. This in turn, affects our self worth and self esteem; we believe that we are not good enough because that’s the message we have received time and time again by our caregivers and relationships with those who don’t understand the effect it has on us.
So I believe this is where I can help because I want to help you build that sense of self worth by giving you tools and the belief in yourself that you deserve.
If this resonates with you, then please email me to organise a phone call to discuss how I can help you if you would like to work with me.
